Invisalign and Everything Else You Need to Know About Braces
Many people want to get braces. However, they don’t want the traditional wire braces. We come with good news, Invisalign is not as painful as the traditional braces and it’s more convenient. It’s easier for you to get your treatments, since you can always take them off when you need to eat or brush your teeth – thing that is not possible with traditional braces. We also come with some tips to keep in mind from the moment you start wearing them. This is what you need to do in order to straighten your teeth as soon as possible.
You have to wear them almost 24/7.
It’s a very well known fact that by wearing your aligners you will straighten your teeth. Those aligners are the most important part of the whole process, so they only work if you wear them almost 24/7.
If you get a new set, you should wear them all the time in the first 48 hours. The rule is actually simple: if you’re not brushing your teeth or eating, the aligners should be on your teeth. After the 48 hours, on a normal day, you will wear them for about 22 hours. If you don’t do this, your teeth will not move as planned, and then you’ll have to wear them even more.
By keeping the trays in for a long time, you can get an unclean taste. To avoid this, you can soak your trays in a diluted mouthwash bath. Do this about two or three times a week. The solution should be 50% water and 50% mouthwash. Keep them there three to five minutes.
Use a tray removal tool
It’s not hygienic to put your hands into your mouth every time you want to take out your trays. Sometimes it can also get messy. It’s just easier if you buy an Invisalign tray removal tool.
Smooth the rough edges
Don’t take into account this tip if you don’t find any sharp edges on your aligners.
But, if your tongue, gum or cheeks are a bit scraped, then you need to find a grit nail buffer (make sure it’s not a coarse metal file). You can use it to smooth the edges of the plastic aligner.
Brush your teeth after every meal
As said earlier, you’ll have to wear your aligners for about 22 hours a day. However, you don’t need to put them on right after you’ve stopped eating. You need to brush first. If you don’t do it, food will get stuck in your teeth and can mess with the shape of your trays. This thing usually leads to teeth going in unwanted positions.
