Vitamin B5: Where Its Contained
Vitamin B5 is known as"pantothenic acid"or"calcium pantothenate." It has a wide range of functions for the health of the body. In the body, calcium pantothenate is converted into pantethine. Coenzyme A, the composition of which includes pantethine, involved in fat, protein and carbohydrate metabolism.
Vitamin B5 is essential for amino acid metabolism, carbohydrate, fat, hemoglobin synthesis, cholesterol, acetylcholine, histamine and essential fatty acids.
Calcium pantothenate is sensitive to heat. Almost fifty percent of the vitamin are lost during thermal processing products.
Sources of Vitamin B5
Vitamin B5 is produced by Escherichia coli in a significant amount.
Vitamin is widely distributed. Plant foods that contain pantothenic acid are:
- oat and buckwheat groats,
- green leafy vegetables,
In animal products pantothenic acid contains in:
- kidneys, liver, heart,
- egg yolk,
- fish roe .
Reasons of Vitamin B5 Hypovitaminosis
Pantothenic acid deficiency can cause:
- low intake in the diet of fatty foods and protein,
- vitamin B group and vitamin C deficit;
- bowel disease syndrome with a thin low vapor absorption,
- prolonged use of antibiotics and sulfonamides.
With a lack of vitamin B5 body reduces the body's immunity to infections, often causing acute respiratory diseases to occur.
