The Use Of A Scooter For Children's Health

Scooter is not only a great toy for a child at the age of two and later, but also a wonderful simulator that will help strengthen the musculoskeletal system of the kid and improve his or her coordination. The principle of using a scooter is very simple, so babies usually do not have problems with riding it. Many parents say that when a child learned to ride a scooter, it is much easier for him or her to lear ride a two-wheeled bike, and one starts to ride it much earlier and faster than one's peers who do not ride a scooter.

The use of a scooter for children's health

1. Leg muscles

  • Thus, for a child it is sufficient to ride a scooter for an hour or two to fully strengthen the muscular system of feet. Even riding the simplest three-wheeled scooter is five times more effective for leg muscles than walking or running.

2. The cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

As with any exercise, riding a scooter increases blood circulation, quickens child's breathing which provides the additional amount of tissue oxygen. Therefore, occurs so-called natural ventilation. That is why pediatricians recommend the use of the scooter for children who have problems with the development of the respiratory system, including asthmatics.

3. The vestibular apparatus, skills and attention.

Riding a scooter requires certain focusing of attention. In other words, the child has to constantly move his or her view from the further points to closer ones, but it's a good training for vision and concentration.

The vestibular apparatus is trained when a child steps with both feet on the scooter, as he or she has to keep the balance while to going around objects, holes and not only stay straight.

How to choose the scooter

  1. Scooter selection depends primarily on the age of the child. If your baby is only two or three years old, then it is optimal to choose a three-wheeled model. This will allow your child to learn to ride on his or her own, as three-wheeled model does not require much skills for holding the balance.
  2. Two-wheeled scooter is suitable for older children from 4-5 years. Such a model is not only more maneuverable, but also requires more skills for coordination. In addition, this design is very convenient for storage, as it does not take up much space.
  3. When choosing wheels for scooter, there are two options including plastic and rubber ones. It is potimal to choose rubber wheels, as they provide great cushioning and ride comfort.
